Gangotri
Gangotri might very well be the most sacred place in India because of its connection to Goddess Ganga. It is believed this is the place where she took the form of a river and descended from the hair of Lord Shiva, turning into waters that can cleanse all sins. The origin of the sacred river is at the Gangotri Glacier at the height of 3,100 metres.
